El Monte
Dona Maria Gertrudes Barcelo, the mid-nineteenthcentury figure known more commonly as "La Tules," was a legend in her time—the most notorious lady gambler of the New Mexico Territory and perhaps the entire region west of St. Louis, Missouri.
